Sustainable Value Creation Model
Sustain Plan GmbH played an active and strategic role in the design and development of the Sustainable Value Creation Award Model, a framework created to advance organizational excellence, ESG performance, and sustainable impact through an integrated and practical assessment approach. Developed by a team composed of Sustain Plan GmbH together with selected members of the United Metric network, the model represents an important milestone in the evolution of the award after nine years of implementation and experience.
This project was not simply an update of an existing award structure. It was the development of a refined and future-oriented model that responds to the growing need for organizations to connect strategy, governance, sustainability, and measurable value creation within one coherent framework. Sustain Plan GmbH contributed directly to the conceptual design, framework development, structuring of core dimensions, and alignment of the model with international sustainability and organizational excellence expectations.
At the center of the model is the concept of Sustainable Value Creation. Instead of evaluating organizations only through isolated ESG indicators or general management criteria, the model is built to assess how organizations create lasting value across economic, environmental, social, and governance dimensions. This makes it both a recognition model and a strategic management tool that organizations can use to improve performance, strengthen accountability, and align their operations with long-term impact.
The model is structured around five integrated dimensions. The first dimension, Leadership and Strategy, examines how leadership commitment, vision, and strategic direction support sustainable value creation. The second, Sustainable Economic Performance, focuses on resilience, responsible growth, and the organization’s ability to create durable economic value. The third, Environmental and Climate, evaluates how organizations address environmental responsibility, climate-related impacts, and resource-conscious practices. The fourth, Governance, Ethics and Legal Compliance, emphasizes responsible governance systems, integrity, transparency, and compliance. The fifth, Social Engagement and Human Capital, addresses people, inclusion, stakeholder engagement, and broader social contribution.
One of the key strengths of this model is its ability to connect excellence with sustainability in a way that is both rigorous and actionable. It empowers organizations to move beyond symbolic commitments and toward structured implementation. It also provides a language and assessment architecture that supports alignment with ESG priorities and the Sustainable Development Goals while remaining relevant for practical organizational decision-making.
For Sustain Plan GmbH, this project reflects our commitment to building specialized, applicable, and high-impact frameworks that help organizations lead with credibility and purpose. The Sustainable Value Creation Award Model demonstrates how expert-led collaboration can transform an award system into a meaningful framework for evaluation, improvement, and long-term sustainable success. Today, the model is being applied by major companies, confirming its relevance, usability, and strategic value in real organizational contexts.
